This is an announcement to address the unintended operational impact that some members are experiencing as they familiarise themselves with the new certification, trade and traceability system, prisma by RSPO.
It is important to note that changes in the operational requirements while migrating to prisma are mandatory policy-driven implementations to ensure members comply with the latest RSPO Standards.
Please refer to the following list of updates designed to guide members through these changes in a seamless manner:
Product and Business Type Classifications
To facilitate greater traceability from palm oil mills to refineries in prisma, all products have been classified to indicate the appropriate input and output. In an effort to improve consistency in reporting, prisma strictly adheres to pre-defined product classifications as found in the RSPO Supply Chain Certification (SCC) Standards, as per the following categories (business type):
A. Palm Oil Mill
B. Crusher
C. Refinery
For better alignment, we have merged stocks belonging to RSPO Certificate holders for six (6) products, which were not listed within the yield scheme of the RSPO SCC Standard but available in the previous platform, as follows:
A. Remaining stock of Crude CSPKO in PalmTrace is now assigned to Palm Kernel Oil
B. Remaining stock of Crude PK Stearin in PalmTrace is now assigned to PK Stearin
C. Remaining stock of Crude PK Olein in PalmTrace is now assigned to PK Olein
D. Remaining stock of Refined CSPKO in PalmTrace is now assigned to Refined Palm Kernel Oil
E. Remaining stock of Refined PK Stearin in PalmTrace is now assigned to PK Stearin
F. Remaining stock of Refined PK Olein in PalmTrace is now assigned to PK Olein
Business Type Validation
To address some members’ concerns about restrictions on the refineries conducting transactions for certain products, we have expanded the product list to allow refineries to purchase all products designated as input and output for the ‘refinery’ business type. However, they will only be permitted to sell products other than crude palm oil (CPO) and palm kernel oil (PKO), as selling these would require an additional Trading Account.
Refineries with a certification scope that includes trading activities (i.e. buying and selling CPO or PKO) will now obtain an additional Trader Trading Account (SCC) alongside their Refinery Trading Account. In case the refinery has not included trading activities (i.e. buying and selling CPO or PKO) in their current certification scope, they may contact the Certification Body to perform scope extension, to include the trading activities in the scope and update the licence accordingly.
Trace Function
On prisma, the Trace function is currently limited to RSPO Members only. As per 5.7.2 (e) of the RSPO SCC Standards, Trace is carried out by refineries and traders when RSPO Certified products are sold as RSPO Certified to members in the supply chain beyond the refinery. The volume shall be traced within three (3) months after physical delivery.
Tracing will generate a Trace document with a unique traceability number. This provides certificate holders with greater flexibility to consolidate multiple shipments to the same buyers in a one-time trace action, rather than creating multiple trace actions for every shipment.
We take the opportunity to reiterate that prisma has been developed to enable all our stakeholders to benefit from high quality data, greater transparency, and end-to-end traceability, which will facilitate stronger compliance with today’s global market requirements.
Thank you for your support and patience as we bring prisma to full operational capacity.
